How to Automate Your Smart Home with the Smart Life App

The Smart Life app allows you to fully automate your smart devices - from plugs and sensors to lights and climate controls. With just a few taps, you can create automations that react to temperature, humidity, motion, time of day, or even your location.

In this guide, we’ll show you how to build automations using the Smart Life app, with practical examples based on popular devices like the Smart socket and Smart hygrometer.

What is an automation?

An automation is a rule you set up to trigger a specific action. It follows a simple logic:

IF [trigger happens]
THEN [do this action]

You can combine different types of triggers and conditions, such as:

  • Temperature or humidity (from a Smart hygrometer)

  • Time of day

  • Device status (on/off)

  • Location (arrive or leave)

  • Motion detection

How to create an automation in the Smart Life app

  1. Open the Smart Life app

  2. Go to the Smart tab

  3. Tap Automation

  4. Tap the + icon to create a new automation

  5. Choose your trigger (e.g. “humidity > 65%”)

  6. Select the action (e.g. “turn on Smart socket”)

  7. Add any optional conditions (e.g. “only between 08:00–22:00”)

  8. Tap Save

The automation is now active.

Example 1: Use a Smart hygrometer to control a Smart socket

Goal: Turn on a dehumidifier when humidity is too high.

Devices needed:

  • Smart hygrometer

  • Smart socket

  • Dehumidifier

Setup:

  • IF humidity > 65%

  • THEN turn ON Smart socket

  • Optional: only active between 08:00–22:00

Create a second automation to turn it off:

  • IF humidity < 55%

  • THEN turn OFF Smart socket

This automation helps maintain a healthy indoor climate and saves energy.

Example 2: Temperature-based fan control

Goal: Use a Smart socket to control a regular fan based on room temperature.

Devices needed:

  • Smart hygrometer

  • Smart socket

  • Fan

Setup:

  • IF temperature > 26°C

  • THEN turn ON Smart socket

  • IF temperature < 23°C

  • THEN turn OFF Smart socket

Perfect for keeping bedrooms or offices cool automatically.

Example 3: Time-based morning routine

Goal: Start your day with a Smart socket and light schedule.

Devices needed:

  • Smart Plug WiFi (for coffee machine)

  • Smart bulb or Smart socket (for bedside lamp)

Setup:

  • IF time = 07:00

  • THEN turn ON coffee machine

  • THEN turn ON bedside lamp

This setup automates your morning without needing voice commands or buttons.

Example 4: Motion-triggered lighting

Goal: Automatically turn on a hallway light at night when motion is detected.

Devices needed:

  • Motion sensor

  • Smart socket or smart bulb

Setup:

  • IF motion detected

  • Condition: time between 20:00 and 06:00

  • THEN turn ON hallway light

You can also add a timer to switch it off after a few minutes.

Example 5: Automations based on location

Goal: Turn off devices when you leave home.

Devices needed: Any Smart plug or smart bulb

Setup:

  • IF location = leave home

  • THEN turn OFF selected devices

This automation helps reduce energy usage when nobody’s home. Make sure location access is enabled in your device settings.

Optional: One-tap scenes

Not every action needs to be automated. You can also create “scenes” for manual activation, such as:

  • Turning off all lights when going to bed

  • Activating a “Movie Night” mode with multiple lights or devices

  • Preheating your coffee machine on demand

Scenes can be triggered manually in the app or via voice assistants like Google Home or Alexa.

Tips for stable automations

  • Don’t overlap trigger thresholds too closely (e.g. humidity > 60% and < 59%)

  • Always test your automation to confirm it works as expected

  • Group devices into rooms in the app for easier management

  • Use push notifications for updates (e.g. when humidity is out of range)

Final thoughts

Smart Life automations let you fully customize your home environment. Whether you're using a Smart socket to control your fan or a Smart hygrometer to manage humidity levels, automations allow you to save energy and improve comfort - automatically.

Try combining different devices and triggers to create a routine that fits your lifestyle.
